Jake had his first day at Kindergarten! All week he's been excited about it. In my head I kept thinking of that scene from Nemo where he's chanting "first day of school, first day of school" as he tries to get his dad out of bed. That's how it was for Jake. He couldn't wait to get started.
He looked so handsome in his new school outfit. Ellie had to join in on the picture fun too.
We requested that Jake be in the same class as his little buddy Blake, but it didn't work out. We were all a little disappointed but it turned out ok. I think they look so cute together!
He walked right in the class room with the rest of the group. He did look back and give me a little smile as walked through the doors. Couldn't have been prouder! It was bitter sweet seeing him walk away but I'm glad that he was ready for it.
Jake wanted to ride the bus home, which I was slightly nervous about. How is a little 5 year old supposed to know what bus to get on?! He did great though and made it home safe and sound. In fact, I think the bus ride was his favorite part of the day. He was jumping up and down as he got off the bus and I could barely get him to tell me about the rest of the day.
It was a happy and sad day all at the same time. I'm so excited for all that he's going to learn and experience and I know that he'll do a great job!

I'm happy he loves school. I bet that has made you feel better about sending him. I would be nervous about the bus too. Remember how I used to miss my bus all the time kindergarten. I don't think they even have buses for Addy because she lives too close. He looks super happy and cute! Hopefully the happiness of school never goes away. ;)
He is the most handsome kindergartner ever! I love that he had such a good day and riding the bus holy cow, it makes me a little sad he is growing up so much, pretty soon he is going to think Savannah has coodies :-(
So cute! He did look handsome in his new school clothes! How fun! Bailey is excited for preschool...but she thinks she gets to ride a school bus. I think she will be disappointed with that--why are school buses so amazing to kiddos? :)
I can't believe how big your kids are!! Oh, and I read your comment that you left me, I am SO glad that babies are tough too! :)
