Girl...Boy...GIRL!!

We'll I think we finally know for sure what we're having! It's been a bit confusing the past few weeks. At 16 weeks I had an early ultrasound because I had some bleeding. Everything looked fine, but while they were looking I thought it would be nice to find out the gender of our baby. We were told it was a girl! I was kind of expecting a girl because this pregnancy has been so much like my pregnancy with Ellie. A month later I had my regular ultrasound at 21 weeks. The baby was breach, and it was difficult to get a clear picture, but the doctor was leaning towards BOY! We were happy with a boy or a girl but after our last ultrasound we were so surprised! At that appointment there were a few things that looked a little unusual with the placenta so the doctor recommended that we see a perinatologist, so I was off for another ultrasound a couple of weeks later. The perinatologist said that I have these spaces filled with blood in my placenta called placental lakes. They're not super uncommon but I guess the ones I had were a bit larger than normal. He said as long as the baby is growing at a good rate everything should be fine. I'll probably have a few more ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy to check on things but otherwise everything looked good. The perinatologist also said that he was 99% sure that we're having a GIRL. So, I feel pretty confident that it's a girl. We're all so excited, especially the kids. We had Jake's first parent teacher conferences last week and his teacher said that Jake talks about the baby all the time. He's such a cute big brother and he's doing so well at school. I'm so proud of the good student he's becoming. Ellie is a crazy little thing but we love her to pieces. She's always doing silly things that make us laugh. Being a mom is the best thing in the world!

I want a boy, and Ellie is mean to me. But I'm happy for you guys anyways. Yay baby Lola! (right?) Maybe she'll like me...

I've been out of blogland for a while and didn't even know you were pregnant. YAY! Congrats, hope you are feeling well. And if you've already heard it, don't listen to what people say, so far having 3 kids hasn't been too hard of an adjustment.
