I love the 4th of July! It's such a great holiday and I am so grateful to live where we live. Every year we go to watch the hot air balloons early in the morning. This year we decided to camp out in my sister's back yard so that we could all get up and leave together. It was our first experience camping with Ellie and it may just be our last. Just kidding. She just woke up at 2:30 in the morning and thought that it was time to get up and start stepping all over all of us. Eventually, she fell back asleep next to me but it felt like a LONG night.
The balloons were fun but the winds were so strong that most of them weren't able to get up. The kids thought it was hilarious when the crowd started screaming as the Coke balloon started to topple over into everyone. It was pretty funny. I was hoping that they would try to get up again, but they didn't.
After the balloons we headed home for a much needed nap and then continued the fun in the afternoon playing with water balloons and eating delicious food. In the evening we went to the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. They were fun but also slightly disappointing. They didn't seem to last as long as last year. Budget cuts I guess. We did get to see Jake and Ellie's faces as they watched the fireworks go off. It definitely was the best part of the evening. I love celebrating holidays with them and all our family!
